Introducing the Winners of the 18th Annual HD Awards - Guestrooms Winner

Hospitality Design (HD) magazine announced project and product winners during the 18th annual HD Awards ceremony. More than 525 people attended the sold-out event, which honored the year’s best and most innovative achievements in design from around the globe, held on Tuesday, June 7th at Cipriani South Street in New York. The breadth of the industry was showcased across more than 1,100 project and product submissions, our most ever to date.

Of the winners, the Royal Senses Resort & Spa Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton received Best in Show in projects, while the Olio Armchair from DesignByThem was named Best in Show for products.

The project judges included Asiya Chowdhury, former vice president, Ian Schrager Company; 
Thom Geshay, CEO + president, Davidson Hospitality Group
; Scott Hammons, vice president of design and construction, DiamondRock Hospitality; 
Dionne Jefferson, vice president of global design, U.S. and Canada, Marriott; 
Ari Kastrati, chief hospitality officer, MGM Resorts International; 
Lisa McClung, senior director of interior design, IHG Capital Investment and Transactions
; Larry Traxler, senior vice president of global design, Hilton
; and Kia Weatherspoon, president, Determined by Design.

Products were judged by Angela Clarke, vice president of global design procurement, Marriott
; Stefano Giussani, CEO, Lissoni New York
; and Helen Jorgensen, vice president of design + procurement, Host Hotels & Resorts.

Chosen by the HD editorial staff, the HD Awards also recognized Sharan Pasricha of Ennismore and KTGY Simeone Deary Design Group as Hotelier and Design Firm of the Year, respectively. Additionally, Chae Rim Kang of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) won the annual HD/West Elm Student Product Design Competition for her Fold occasional chair, and the Hospitality Diversity Action Council (HDAC) honored Jason Bass of Revival Baltimore as the recipient of its Awards of Excellence.
